A camera shy thief has made sure his crime wasn’t captured on film when he removed a CCTV camera from the side of a pub after also bagging scrap metal.

Police are hunting the thief who broke into the grounds of The Mallard pub, on Heanor Road in the early hours of Wednesday morning and took two large bags of scrap metal.

He also stole a TV from a caravan parked at the back of the site.

The man walked back along Heanor Road towards Ilkeston carrying the bags after the offence.

The offender, who was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket, first targeted the pub at about 4.50am on Wednesday February 26.

He left on a pedal cycle before returning on foot at about 6.20am, after which the items were stolen.

Police are appealing for drivers or pedestrians who may have seen a man with two large bags walking along Heanor Road or nearby streets shortly after 6.45am

Witnesses or anyone with information can call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
