More than 25,000 fake cigarettes and 13kg of tobacco, worth more than £14,000 in total, have been seized from five shops in Ilkeston and Long Eaton.
In raids carried out by Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Police and Trading Standards Institute (TSI), sniffer dogs discovered fake fags in false light fittings and a toilet cistern.
The raids, on Monday, were part of Operation Henry which is funded by the Department of Health and managed by the TSI to provide each region with eight days where sniffer dogs can be used.
Sniffer dogs Ozzie and Buster helped to detect the concealed stashes of tobacco.
The visits were conducted as a result of tip-offs from the public and the seizure included both counterfeit products and some on which duty had not been paid. No arrests were made.
