A trial date has been set for five people charged in connection with an alleged assault in Ilkeston last month.

Donna Haron, 24, of Ash Street, Ilkeston; Rory Bardill, 27, of Sherwin Road, Stapleford; and Thomas Swain, 25, of Peatfield Road, Stapleford have all been remanded in custody.

Zoe Winfield, 22, of Graham Street, Ilkeston; and Ricki Davies, 42, of Monmouth Close, Nottingham, have been released on bail.

None of the defendants entered a plea and the trial is set to start on October 20 at Derby Crown Court.

The five were charged with violent disorder after an incident on May 18.

Two men and a woman were walking along Bath Street at 1.10am when a group of three men and two women allegedly started shouting racist abuse directed towards them.

The group then allegedly assaulted the men and woman.

As a result the victims required hospital treatment, one of the men suffered a broken leg and the woman was treated for head injuries, police have said.
