Three people have been remanded in custody and another two released on bail after an alleged racist attack in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Two men and a woman were walking along Bath Street at 1.10am on May 18 when a group of three men and two women started shouting racist abuse directed towards them, it is claimed.
The group then allegedly assault the men and woman. As a result the victims required hospital treatment, one of the men suffered a broken leg and the woman was treated for head injuries, police have said.
Five people have now appeared at Derby Magistrates Court charged with violent disorder.
Donna Haron, 24, of Ash Street, Ilkeston; Rory Bardill, 27, of Sherwin Road, Stapleford and Thomas Swain, 25, of Peatfield Road, Stapleford have all been remanded in custody.
Zoe Winfield, 22, of Graham Street, Ilkeston; and Ricki Davies, 42, of Monmouth Close, Nottingham, have been released on bail.
