A councillor is pleading with residents to ‘use it or lose it’ when a bus service is reinstated on a trial basis next month.
Derbyshire County Council (DCC) has agreed to subsidise the number 11 service which collects and drops off passengers in West Hallam and Stanley on route to Derby will start up again thanks to the cash.
DCC has joined forces with Derby City Council to fund a ninety minute evening and a two hourly Sunday service.
Cllr Carol Hart, county councillor and leader of West Hallam Parish Council, said: “This really is a case of use it or lose it.
“The council will be paying close attention to how much the service is used to make sure it is worth the money.
“A lot of people were left with no way to travel when the service stopped and I have rallied and presented petitions on their behalf since.
“Residents need to make sure they prove how valuable this service is to our community by using the bus as they did before.”
The evening service 11 will be operated by Yourbus, with the Sunday 11 service operated by Notts & Derby.
