We want to pave the way to plant a tree in Ilkeston as a lasting tribute to the brave local soldiers who fought in World War One.

Under the banner ‘Pennies For Our Heroes’, we want to collect loose change that can fund a mature tree planted somewhere locally as a lasting reminder to the soldiers’ sacrifices.

In other news, we have the latest from the William Roache trial with the Coronation Street star taking to the stand and talking about his childhood growing up in Ilkeston.

There is also news from court, including a man whose drug activity was compared to a ‘mail order business’.

Ilkeston FC fans have scored a victory in a fight for a new pavement and a trio of men have been arrested over a ram raid in the town.

There is also plenty of local features, including Class Act featuring Smalley Richardson Endowed Primary.

Then there is your regular local sport, entertainments and property and motors sections.
