A magical evening of festive fun is on the cards at Long Eaton’s big Christmas Lights switch-on event on Thursday November 27.

As well as a Christmas market and family funfair, there will be traditional festive music and performances by Long Eaton Silver Prize Band.

And no countdown to Christmas would be complete without street entertainers, fun ‘walkabout’ characters and a visit by Santa Claus and his reindeer.

There will also be a chance for celebration sing-a-longs with a Take That tribute band who will be playing from 6.20pm to 6.50pm and 7.10pm to 7.30pm.

The switch-on event will take place in and around the Market Place area of the town centre from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, with Erewash mayor Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal switching on the lights at 7pm.

Other highlights include a procession featuring children from the Dovedale Primary School wearing illuminated costumes inspired by snowmen and arctic animals.
