A LONG Eaton NHS worker has been chosen as an Olympic torchbearer to represent Derbyshire Community Health Service.
Nordic walking enthusiast Pippa Goodwin, 47, who works for the trust’s tier three weight reduction service, was nominated by a work colleague for the honour of carrying the torch.
She said: said: “I don’t think I can hold the walking poles and the torch as the same time so I think it will have to be a very slow jog instead.”
Pippa, who will carry the torch through Derby on June 29, added: “I’m not a very fit person so I understand how difficult it can be for people to get started with exercise and to keep it up. In my role I can support people for up to two years to help them get more active.”
