Plenty of wildlife shots have hit our inbox for the Advertiser’s brilliant Specsavers Life Thru The Lens photographic competition.
But we also want you to get out and about snapping landmarks and landscapes that capture the essense of the area we live in — to be in with a chance of winning a top digital camera worth hundreds of pounds provided by sponsor Specsavers, of Bath Street, Ilkeston.
You can draw inspiration from the two entries we feature this week — a sunset at Shipley Park taken by Darren Marshall, of Stanley Common, and a shot of the Ilkeston Market Place fountain captured by Jonathan Daniel.
Both the ‘Tiser and Specsavers have joined forces to bring you this wonderful opportunity, now it is down to you, our readers, to get out and about with your cameras and smartphones and start capturing wonderful images.
The only limit is your ambition and creative flair. Can you sum up the town’s industrial heritage in a single shot? Perhaps the old Stanton Ironworks would provide the perfect backdrop?
The next step is to email or post your entry to us with specific details (SEE RIGHT).
The competition will run for several weeks to allow you to take advantage of the changing seasons to add atmosphere to your shots.
And we will showcase some of your entries each week in the paper and online.
Once the competition closes, a group of finalists will be selected before a panel of judges select the overall winner.
There will then be a presentation night at the Specsavers store where the finalists’ images will also be exhibited.
As mentioned, Specsavers Ilkeston is providing a top prize of the latest digital camera.
Krishna Parmar, director at Ilkeston Specsavers, said: “We’re really pleased to be sponsoring Life Thru the Lens . We can’t wait to see your entries.”
