Erewash Museum will host celebrations to mark the Winter Solstice this month, an event organised as part of Erewash Borough Council’s Festival of Light programme.
The event takes place on Saturday December 20 and includes fun craft activities between 11am and 3.30pm.
There will also be an ‘illumination finale’ - an hour-long salute to the solstice in the gardens between 4pm and 5pm when there will be a moment of stillness and peace as the sun sets to reveal a nature-inspired installation of light in the gardens.
Councillor Mike Wallis, the council’s lead member for culture and leisure said: “This is a magical event that is always popular with families and people of all ages. Enjoy the workshops or simply join us for the finale when the museum gardens will be transformed into an illuminated delight when the sun goes down.”
Admission is free with a charge of £1.50 for children taking part in the workshops.
