A GRAVEYARD study has been carried out at St Peter’s Church in Awsworth.

Undertaken by archaeologists, the survey digitally maps information on gravestones and archives it on permanent record.

The long term aim of Nottinghamshire County Council’s archaeology team is to record all Nottinghamshire gravestones.

Bryan Maloney, who is a member of St Peter’s Church, said: “Having an up-to-date record like the one here is invaluable for many families hoping to trace their ancestors.”

Cllr Ken Rigby said: “Gravestones provide a valuable amount of information to a genealogist and these records will be welcomed in years to come.”
