Mayor honours borough’s youngsters

NINE Erewash youngsters, who received honours from the county council last year, were presented with plaques by the Mayor this week.

Winners included six-year-old Dahnon Ward from Kirk Hallam who has a prosthetic leg and is described as an ‘inspiration’, Jake Musson, 12, from Ilkeston, who despite having a brain tumour, ‘always makes everyone smile’, and 14-year-old Chloe Guest of Kirk Hallam who is ‘bright and bubbly’ despite having cystic fibrosis,

Cllr Kevin Miller, who met the children at Long Eaton Town Hall on Friday, said: “It is a great honour to meet these award winners and to salute their achievements.

“They are a fine example of the many young people we have here in Erewash who are doing good things and setting the standards when it comes to bravery, kindness and positive attitudes.”
