Almost 100 youngsters received the MMR jab this week after calls were made following the recent outbreak of measles in Wales.

It was revealed last week that Erewash had one of the lowest uptakes of the jab in Derbyshire.

In response, Littlewick Medical Centre in Nottingham Road made an appeal through the Advertiser for those who missed the jab to receive one at a drop-in clinic there on Monday,

Practice director Diane Perry said: “I am very pleased to say that we have had 90 children vaccinated with the MMR vaccine who had previously missed either the booster or both vaccinations.”

She added: “It is great to see Ilkeston understanding the importance of this vaccine and doing what they can to ensure we don’t get hit with an epidemic such as in Wales.

“Thanks also to the Advertiser for backing this campaign and highlighting the issue.”

She urged anyone aged one to 16, who has still not had their jab, to make an appointment with a nurse.
