THE ORGANISERS of Ilkeston Carnival 2011 have picked one lucky young lady to be Carnival Queen.

Milla Rigby, 12, who attends St John Houghton School, was picked because she has wanted to be the Carnival Queen ever since she was a little girl.

Milla said: “Since I was little I’ve been to the carnival and seen the different Queens and I’ve always wanted to be one so I’m really excited about it.”

She will ride in on the bonnet of the Carnival Queen car.

The keen singer also loves to dance and regularly performs with group Dance Divas. She also likes reading, roller skating and spending time with her family at her home in Park Drive, Ilkeston.

Milla will be greeting carnival-goers on Saturday and will help new Mayor Cllr Kevin Miller officially open the occasion.
