EREWASH MP Jessica Lee has praised the work of Ilkeston Job Centre in Parliament this week.
Speaking in a House of Commons debate on Monday, Miss Lee raised concerns about the 820 young people in Erewash who are starting the year out of work.
She said: “I spent some time in my local Job Centre in Ilkeston before Christmas, and I am very impressed with the efforts being made by staff there to help young people.”
The Conservative MP asked Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Ian Duncan Smith MP what plans the Government is making to help young people to access apprenticeships and skills training.
He said that the Government is aiming to increase the number of apprenticeships from 50,000 to 75,000 while it is in power.
