DERBYSHIRE Wildlife Trust announced this week that it will be holding two public consultations about a plan to create the county’s second biggest nature reserve on Ilkeston’s doorstep.
The trust is currently finalising details of the purchase of 182 acres of land – the southern part of the former American Adventure theme park – from Derbyshire County Council.
The new land will join Mapperley Wood Nature Reserve to Shipley Wood, creating the largest nature reserve in the county outside the Peak District.
On March 2 at the Arena in Rutland Street and March 22 at West Hallam Methodist Church, residents are invited to learn about the proposals and give their views.
