PUPILS at an Ilkeston school have been enjoying a new outdoor area designed in class.

Children in year two at Field House Infants School came up with ideas for a gardening area and then started to raise money to pay for it to be built.

They collected cash through sponsored events and received a donation of £500 from county councillor Michelle Booth’s community fund and £50 from the Dales Foundation, run by Dales Fabrications based on Crompton Road.

School business manager, Lorraine Gillott, said: “The children absolutely love the garden area. “The money collected meant the school could buy sleepers for the raised beds, have them built, and get the materials needed to plant them up which pupils really enjoyed doing.

“We’re extremely grateful to everyone who helped us raise the money for the project.”
