An Ilkeston woman has turned her love of all things magical into a business.

Janet Wakefield, 51, has opened It’s a Kind of Magick on Bath Street.

The shop sells metaphysical gift wear and jewellery such as crystals, Wiccan items, tarot cards, candles, cauldrons and essential oils.

You can even buy your own captured cloud, which consists of a cotton wool cloud with bobbly eyes and glitter, baring the message ‘every cloud has a silver lining.’

Janet hopes it will help bring great improvement to the look of lower Bath Street.

Janet, said: “I worked at Poundstretcher for 22 years. I’m a Wiccan, which is a nature based religion working with crystals and moon cycles

“My grandma was a wise woman and taught me about herbs and flowers.”

It was stalls at Glastonbury festival that gave her the idea for the shop. She said: “There was nothing like that here.

“There is something for every religion and creed, from 50p to £100.

“I opened at the start of this month and other Bath Street businesses have been very supportive, we all look after each other.

“We have had lovely feedback from customers who have said there is a nice energy and it’s nice and peaceful.”

Jane is married and has three children. Youngest daughter Scarlett Wakefield,18, painted the shop front sign, completely to her own design and freehand.
