A NEW wheelchair was just one of many presents given to Ilkeston schoolboy Matthew Frost on his seventh birthday.
Heartless scrap metal thieves stole Matthew’s old wheelchair earlier this year.
Charity Newlife and Marks and Spencers teamed up to donate the new wheelchair after hearing Matthew’s dad talking about the theft on a radio phone in.
Mark Frost, said: “This is fantastic news and Matthew is over the moon.
“Matthew was devastated when his wheelchair was stolen from outside the house.
“I rang in to BBC Radio 2 when they were running a feature on scrap metal and, shortly after, Newlife and M&S came to the rescue.
“The new chair will give Matthew back his independence and freedom and allow him to move around again.”
Mark, who has raised cash for Newlife with a series of marathons, added: “I just wanted to give something back so that other children can benefit. What Newlife and M&S have done has literally changed Matthew’s life.”
