New bus service hits our roads
A new bus service has been launched which links Ilkeston residents with the Nottingham tram network via Awsworth, Cossall, Kimberley, Nuthall and Giltbrook.
The new service called the T1 The Phoenix Flyer was launched on Friday and almost 7,000 leaflets have been distributed throughout the area advertising the new service.
Broxtowe MP Nick Palmer and Cllr Richard Robinson are thrilled that after two years hard work the new service is set to bring a huge boost to residents.
Cllr Robinson said: "I'd like to pay tribute to the public for their support and also to Veolia Transport who will be running the new service.
"Veolia have provided an unwavering commitment to ensuring the project comes to fruition."
The T1 Phoenix Flyer runs a seven days a week service, and is set to help reduce congestion, and provide an invaluable link to the Tram Network, Giltbrook Retail Park and the Tesco store at Ilkeston.
Broxtowe MP Nick Palmer said "I'm confident that the service will be a success and bring many long lasting benefits to the area, including helping reduce traffic congestion".
The bus will run from Tesco Ilkeston from 6.25am until 11.08pm, with two buses an hour.
