RATE payers in Erewash will not see a rise in council tax for the coming year after Erewash Borough Council confirmed they weree freezing the rate.
The Conservative-led authority said there will be no cuts to services and no compulsory redundancies as the budget revealed in the Advertiser last week for 2011/2012 was voted through at the last full council meeting before the local elections last week.
There will also not be an increase in parking charges or leisure facilities including swimming.
Finance spokesman Cllr David Stephenson said the leading group would have liked to make a reduction in the rate but it was not possible.
Labour leader Cllr Howard Griffiths said there should have been a consultation because there was ‘no way’ frontline services will not be affected.
