A PENSIONER, who became one of just 60 dog trainers in the country to earn a prestigious qualification has been presented with a certificate at Crufts.

Raymond Jones, 82, achieved full Kennel Club accreditation a few months ago and went along to the annual dog show, held at the Birmingham NEC last weekend, with his son-in-law Alan Cutler.

Despite not owning a computer, the retired dog handler with Staffordshire police achieved the qualification after two years of hard studying.

He has been an instructor at the Midlands Counties German Shepherd Dog Association since 2005 and is the Elavaston-based club’s first ever Kennel Club-accredited instructor.
