OAP’s body found in canal

A MOUNTAIN Rescue team was called out in a bid to find a missing 76-year-old, who was later found dead last week.

Kenneth Reddish was found in the Erewash Canal close to Lock Lane on Friday morning at about 10.30am.

A passer-by had alerted police after noticing a car parked in Lock Lane for an unusually long period of time on Thursday.

A police vehicle check identified the owner as Mr Reddish and a search, involving 28 members of Derby Mountain Rescue Team and three search dogs, got underway.

Mr Reddish of Hillside Grove was identified by his nephew this week.

A post mortem was carried out on Tuesday and an inquest into his death will be opened on Monday March 21.
