Two earthquakes hit the East Midlands

Two earthquake tremors have struck the East Midlands within two days of each other.

The latest seismic event at 7.50am, on Good Friday, April 18, occurred 24 hours after a 3.2 rated quake was recorded at 7.07am, on Thursday, April 17.

The British Geological Survey confirmed both quakes had an epicentre near Oakham, Derbyshire.

About 750 people contacted the BGS after the latest tremor with reports of items shaking.

A BGS spokesman said the second quake was unusual in that it was more powerful than the previous one.
