Hundreds of tins and packets have been donated to the ‘Tiser’s Feed Our Families campaign but we want more.

Readers have been amazing in the support shown so far but with the cost of living rising and the cold weather setting in the number of food parcels needed by people in our town is sure to rise even more over the coming weeks.

You can get involved by dropping off tinned food, cereals, tea, coffee and sugar, pasta, rice, jars and other non perishable items at Ilkeston Library, on the Market Place, Ilkeston’s Citizens Advice Bureau, at the old Albion Leisure Centre or by bringing your donation to the Advertiser office at 8 Heanor road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. DE7 8ER.

The Arena’s community manager, Lisa Harrison, said: “Without the help of the ‘Tiser’s campaign our shelves could have been left empty.

“We were at the eleventh hour wondering where stock was going to come from.

“It’s the generosity of Ilkeston Advertiser readers and local businesses that are helping to feed people in this town that had literally nowhere else to turn.”
