POLICE are revealed they are cracking down on motorists who use their mobile phone while at the wheel.

The operation started on Monday November 21 and will run until Sunday November 27 to coincide with Brake’s national Road Safety Week.

Insp Adam Waterfall said: “Using a phone while driving can severely slow reaction time, making it harder to control speed and lane position and making a collision more likely.

“Drivers who talk on a phone are four times more likely to be involved in a crash and reading or writing text messages behind the wheel is even more distracting.”
