A COUPLE whose deeds were lost by defunct solicitors Walter, Scott and Ross have told the Advertiser they believe the documents may still be in the firm’s smashed-up office.
John Horsley said: “I’ve been trying to track down the deeds for years now.
“The solicitors in Birmingham have tried and they haven’t found them. I have got other documents that mean I don’t necessarily need the deeds but that’s not the point.
“I trusted Walter, Scott and Ross and they lost the paperwork.
“They were a solicitors firm, if you can’t trust them with important things who can you trust?
“It just makes me wonder if they are still in there somewhere on the floor with all the rubbish and other paperwork.
“There’s so many other people with a similar stories. It needs sorting out and any paperwork in there needs returning to its rightful owner.”
Another former client, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s frightening to think what might be in there still.
“I can’t believe that after all this time nothing has been done.
“It seems to me that people keep passing the buck and blaming each other.
“All that anyone cares about is having the place sorted and the paperwork got rid of.”
Last week the Solicitors’ Regulatory Authority told the Advertiser that they were dealing with the former office as a matter of urgency.
