ALL patients at Ilkeston Community Hospital on Easter Sunday received a choclate and a chicken from kindhearted volunteers.

League of Friends member Flo Screen knitted the little chicks, each containing a chocolate egg and a small Easter plant from Ilkeston Rotary Club.

Children in the walk-in clinic also received chocolate gifts.

President of the League Mike Perry, who is also a Rotary member, distributed the Sunday newspaper as usual and said that the gestures were ‘much appreciated’.

Mike is appealing for volunteers to deliver newspapers one day a week at the Heanor Road hospital.

The volunteers would have to become members of the league and undergo CRB checks.

Anyone interested in helping out should call Melanie Daykin at the hospital on 0115 930 5522.
