HUNDREDS of present and former soldiers joined local dignitaries and more than 3,000 members of the public for the annual pilgrimage of the Mercian Regiment.

Alongside family members, they gathered at the war memorial in Crich on Sunday to pay their respects to those from the regiment who gave their lives in service for their country.

This year’s pilgrimage was led by the Colonel of the regiment, Brigadier Andrew Sharpe.

Mayor of Erewash Cllr Kevin Miller, also paid his respects at the event.
