Pensioner dies after heart attack at wheel

A pensioner suffered a fatal heart attack while driving and crashed his Nissan Micra into an oncoming car on Sunday in Long Eaton.

The collision took place outside West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, at about 12.45pm.

A police spokesman said the 78-year-old was air lifted to the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of a Ford CMax which he collided with after losing control was unhurt.
