Pensioners’ Christmas lunch

Co-ordinated by Anne Bagshaw and her committee team, the event was noteable for its fun and friendship, and those present were made to feel like royalty.

Following a splendid high tea, with salads, sweets, cakes and fine wine, the guests were entertained in style by David Griffin. Further entertainment was provided by Ilkeston’s own belly-dancing group Hoochie Kuchii, which is run by Caroline Walsh and certainly livened up proceedings, along with a grand raffle with more than 30 prizes, Councillor Eileen Knight made a special appearance at the event. “The spirit of Christmas really shone through,” she said.
