People rescued as blaze breaks out in Ilkeston

Firefighters rescued a number of people when a blaze broke out in Ilkeston.

Shortly after 10pm last night, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews were called to King Street in the town.

Firefighters found a fire on the outside of a block of flats and rescued five people.

Paramedics, police and the gas board also attended the incident.

There were no reports of any injuries.

At this stage, it is not known what caused the fire.
