More than 60 people have signed a petition on the Derbyshire County Council website to save the number 11 bus.

The petition was set up on November 6 by PaulO’Connor and had already gained the support of 65 people when the Advertiser went to press.

The petition states: “Save The No.11 Bus service at evenings and weekends serving Ilkeston, West Hallam, Stanley Common, Shipley View, Ilkeston Hospital.

“The bus service is the only public transport link to Ilkeston and Derby, for the villages of West Hallam and Stanley, as well as serving the Shipley View Estate, Ilkeston Hospital and the outskirts of Oakwood and Chaddesden.

“The removal of this service would have a detrimental effect on the economies of both Ilkeston and Derby, whilst increasing the travel costs for the general population, who rely on this service for work and social activities.”
