A PLAQUE has been unveiled at Sandiacre Lock Cottage in memory of the founder of the Erewash Canal Society.

Angela Appleby and Rachel Malloy unveiled the plaque in memory of their father, Royston Torrington, who was also the society’s chairman and president.

The Mayor of Erewash, Cllr Robert Parkinson and Mayoress June Parkinson attended the ceremony held this week.

Society member Paul King said: “It was very well attended and all went really well.

“There were lots of people to see the unveiling and everyone enjoyed it.”
