The police have been ordered by a court to arrest a couple from Ilkeston accused of fly-tipping.

Melanie Jane Marshall and Kyron Wathorn, who live at the same address on Rodney Way, each face four charges, which have been brought by Broxtowe Borough Council.

They were meant to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday for their case to be heard, but they failed to turn up.

The council’s solicitor, Razina Ayoub, said the couple had been sent a letter informing them of the proceedings, so she applied for a warrant for their arrest, which was granted by the magistrates.

Marshall and Wathorn are each charged with knowingly causing or allowing domestic waste to be illegally dumped on land at Coventry Lane, Bramcote and land at Newthorpe Sewage Works on the A10 at Newthorpe on or around Monday, August 10 last year.

Once they have been apprehended, a new date will be set for the hearing.
