Derbyshire police release update after 'serious' road collision

A motorist has been arrested in connection with a serious collision in Derbyshire yesterday afternoon (Monday, September 13).

Police were called to the incident on The Hill, Cromford, just before 4pm by paramedics, following reports of a pedestrian with a dog being hit by a van.

A woman aged in her 70s was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains.

Sadly, the dog she was walking with died at the scene.

The road was closed until 8.30pm yesterday.

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

A Derbyshire police spokesperson said: “We would like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far, including who we believe was the driver of a pick-up vehicle we appealed to yesterday.”
