Labour candidate wins Stapleford South West by-election

A new Labour councillor has been elected on to Stapleford Town Council.

Carla Bollen won Thursday’s Stapleford South West by-election, polling 227 votes.

Her nearest rival was Liberal Democrat Timothy Hallam with 184 votes, ahead of Stapleford Alliance candidate Alan Mills with 135 votes and Conservative Eileen Atherton with 74.

Turnout in the by-election was 15.4 per cent.

The seat was previously held by Helen Brett who represented Stapleford Alliance.
