A prolific Ilkeston poet has released his sixth book –and he says it’s his best collection to date.

Readers can get their hands on a copy of 21st Century Wasteland Birth Chaos Death – the latest release by Steven Michael Pape – right now via bookseller website Amazon.

The works cover issues about modern society, Steven explained, and the opening poem is an ode to Sophie Lancaster, the 20-year-old who was murdered in Lancashire in 2007 for wearing goth style clothing.

“Its my best yet. The theme is centred around society today – unemployment, gang culture and addictions that the youth of today may face,” he said.

Michael recruited Ilkeston artist Tim Bennett, of tattoo studio Ilkson Ink, to design the front cover.

Tim has provided artwork for some of Steven’s other releases, including A Closed Mind is an Open Trap last year.

The new book, published by Avenue U Publications, is priced £6 and can be bought directly from Steven.

It will also be in local libraries in December.
