AN ILKESTON pub’s New Year celebrations raised £1,255 for a charity which helped the daughter of one its barmaids.

Revellers out to celebrate on December 31 were asked for a donation on the door of Market Street pub The Charter to go towards children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.

Barmaid Amy Clifton’s three-year-old daughter Lillie Cumberlidge, has received treatment for a rare form of leukaemia for more than two years.

She said: “It was amazing to hand over that money and give something back.”

It is the second year that landlord Neil Aitken, who left to run another pub this week, decided to raise the cash for the charity.

He said he was very pleased he had smashed last year’s total of £900.

Amy, from Cotmanhay, said that Lillie is now nearing the end of her treatment.
