DRINKERS at the Cat and Fiddle pub in Kirk Hallam helped to raise £1,000 for military charity Help for Heroes.

Landlord and landlady Mick and Mary Smedley presented a cheque to the charity on Friday night.

Mary said: “We decided on Help for Heroes because we have a lot of regulars who have family serving in the forces, or that have served.

“Customers have been really generous so a big thanks to them.

“We’ll carry on raising money for Help for Heroes throughout they year, we’ve got fun days planned and some other events as well.”

The couple and staff at the pub started raising money on Bonfire Night.
