Drug awareness training will be given to pub workers in response to concerns over the prevalence of substance misuse in licensed premises.

The training will help staff identify the types of drugs available and their interaction with alcohol. They will learn how to recognise the signs of drug use and will be offered advice on the control of substance misuse.

Two free training sessions have been arranged and these will be held at Ilkeston Town Hall on Monday September 15 and Long Eaton Town Hall on Tuesday September 16.

Councillor Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s lead member for environment, said: “This is a great example of how we are working with the police and with the licensing trade within our borough to do something positive to help tackle the problem of drug misuse in pubs and clubs.”
