Young people from Long Eaton School have been helping to look after Fox Covert Local Nature Reserve.

Pupils from year eight have visited the site many times to help Groundwork Derbyshire add a wire covering to slippery steps, making them safer for all visitors to use throughout the year.

Teacher Mrs Turner said: “It is fantastic to be able to bring students out of school to get involved in work that will benefit their own local community and to give them an opportunity to be praised for their good work.”

Fox Covert is one of six official nature reserves in Erewash, owned by Erewash Borough Council and managed by Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire.
