Pupils’ play on recycling

School pupils in Ilkeston will learn the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling rubbish with the help of a play being funded by Derbyshire County Council through workshops and a theatre group performance.

Gibber Theatre Company will perform the play Waste Watchers to Year 8 pupils at Ilkeston School and Bennerley Fields Special School in February to help deliver the green message.

Workshops will also be held with each class after the performance to further explore the issue and focus on changes students can make to reduce waste in their everyday lives.

Participating schools will have the chance to bid for a share of a £1,500 grant to go towards their own environmental projects and improvements.
