Queen wanted as date for carnival set

Ilkeston Carnival, organised by Ilkeston Lions Club, will take place on June 13.

This will be the 25th year that the Lions have arranged the event and the 80th year that there has been a carnival in Ilkeston.

It will start with a parade leaving Belfield Street at 12.30 and travel through the streets of Ilkeston to the Rutland Recreation Ground where there will be events in the arena, including the tug of war and stalls.

A carnival queen is also needed. They should be aged 14-18. To apply send a letter and photo to be sent to Sue Birch, 41 Belper Road, Stanley Common Derbyshire DE7 6FP or email sa.birch@talktalk.net
