A CHRISTMAS fair, run entirely by a West Hallam school’s PTA, had the whole community behind it this weekend.
Among the many attractions at Saturday’s annual fair at Scargill Primary School. there was a secret elf room, where children could pick a gift-wrapped present for their mums and dads for £1.
There were stalls held by pupils from each year group, cakes, refreshments, tombolas and games alongside community stalls from Avon, Virgin Vie and local craft shops.
There was also a licensed bar for grown-ups, courtesy of Nutbrook Brewery in the village.
It is hoped the event has raised at least £1,100, which is the amount raised at last year’s event.
The cash will be used for projects for each year group at the Beech Lane school during 2012.
PTA vice chairman Sara Harper said: “It was a good start to the festive season.
“It was great night with everyone in a Christmas mood.”
