REMEMBRANCE Day began 93 years ago to mark the end of what was at the time the most atrocious conflict the world had ever seen – the First World War.

No one is alive today who fought in that war but it is significant that an organisation that was established three years later has grown and grown.

The Royal British Region is now marking its landmark 90th year working tirelessly to help existing servicemen, ex-servicemen and their families.

This year as every year, the Ilkeston branch will be paying tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice at services on Friday November 11 and on Sunday as well.
