People who have so far failed to supply details for their right to vote will receive reminders over the next couple of weeks.
Erewash Borough Council is urging those who have had a letter to take action now as the nationwide drive continues to switch to the more secure system of registering to vote.
The council wrote to more than 86,000 people last month and many were told they have automatically moved onto the new electoral register and do not need to do anything else.
However, some people were told they do need to provide additional information. Those residents who have still not supplied that information will receive a reminder and if they still fail to respond, then a home visit will be organised.
