Renewed appeal into Victoria Park vandalism

Ilkeston police officers are appealing for information after a mindless vandal smashed a window after it was recently refurbished.

Derbyshire police was called to Victoria Park, Manners Road, just before 6.30pm on Sunday, February 12 by a witness who reported teenagers damaging the bandstand.

Officers were sent to the park and they found that glass windows had been smashed and paintwork and woodwork damaged.

PCSO Matt Lewis said Ilkeston Town Safer Neighbourhood Team are trying to identify the vandals responsible for causing damage at a newly refurbished bandstand.

He added: "I’m saddened to see that a community facility that has only recently been refurbished to a very high standard, and which was a focal point for the community, has been vandalised.

“I’d like anyone with information to contact me.”
