Standards are improving at a Cotmanhay school, which was put under special measures earlier this year.
Ofsted inspectors praised the work of acting principal at Ormiston Enterprise Academy, Gareth Jones.
“The acting principal has had an enormous impact since his arrival and improvements in almost every aspect of school life are apparent,” inspector John Peckham wrote.
He met with students, toured the academy and scrutinised schoolwork.
Academic attainment for year 11 students was already ‘considerably better than 2012’, thanks to teaching improvements, he added.
Mr Jones said: “We are delighted with these comments and confirmation of the progress that we have made.
“This has been an excellent achievement and reflects all the hard work that has been put in.”
Dave Smith, acting vice principal at a Birmingham academy, is set to take over from Mr Jones in September.
