Rescue pair honoured

two good samaritans who helped to rescue a man in Sandiacre canal last year were honoured at an awards ceremony.

Helen Cox and Dean Pearson clung on to the man for ten minutes to keep him afloat.

A Royal Humane Society spokesman said: “Helen and Dean just happened to be passing by but they stopped to help.

“ They were brave and compassionate in their actions to help the man.

“Had it not been for their efforts there is little doubt that the man would have drowned.”
